orderly withdrawal of al-Qa‘idah combatants.More attacks on US troops

In a dispatch posted at 10:55pm Mecca time Friday night, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that the cites of ad-Dulu‘iyah, Wadi Hamrayn, and
ath-Tharthar, and the villages of al-Bu Khaddu, Jallab, and al-Milh ?
the areas where the US occupation forces’ offensive has concentrated
since the early hours of Thursday night ? have witnessed an exodus of
members of al-Qa‘idah together with their arms and equipment.

イスラム・メモは17日午後10時55分（メッカ時間）の速報で次のように報じた
16日夜から米軍攻勢が集中したドルイヤ、ワディ・ハムライン、サルサルの
各市とブ・ハッヅ、ジャラブ、ミルフの村では、アルカイダのメンバーが
武器と装備を持って退却するのが目撃された。


The Samarra’ correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that highly
reliable sources in the al-Bu Badran, al-Bu Baz, al-Bakarah, and
ad-Darrajiyin Bedouin tribes confirmed that the members of al-Qa‘idah
began their active withdrawal from those areas during Thursday morning
and afternoon, hours before the American offensive on the area began.

ブ・バドラン、ブ・バズ、バカラ、ダラジインに住むベドウィン部族の
信頼できる情報源は、米軍攻勢が始まる前、16日の朝から昼にかけて、
アルカイダのメンバーが一帯から退却しはじめたことを確認した

They moved on as individuals to other areas after it was confirmed to
the local people and to the al-Qa‘idah fighters themselves that
an American offensive was going to be launched within the next couple
of days.

米軍の攻勢が２日以内に遂行されることが地元住民とアルカイダ戦士にも
知れた後、アルカイダ・メンバーは別の地域へ個別に移動した。


The tribal sources said that not only al-Qa‘idah fighters but a lot of
local residents of those cities and villages ? “particularly those with
money and interests” as the sources put it ? left the area too, for the
same reason, after learning of the impending American offensive.

部族関係者達は、米軍の攻勢が差し迫っていることが判ると、アルカイダ戦士
だけでなく一帯の都市および村落の多くの住民:特に金と利益を持つ人々:も
同じ理由でその地域から立ち去ったと話した。


The sources said that the bulk of the al-Qa‘idah fighters, who had been
concentrated in remote areas where there are no urban services such as
running water, electricity, or ground or wireless communication, pulled
out and moved to various new locations.

水道や電気、有線・無線の通信手段といった都市機能がない僻地に終結してきた
アルカイダの大部分は撤退し、他のさまざまな場所へと移動していったという。
