ceeded，among other things，to an administrative ln-
corporation of the Senkaku lslands into the Prefecture of
llan，on Febl･ual･y ユ！.1972.The Government of Peking
has，on its pa1't， l｀aised the problem of t}le Senkaku
lslands wﾕthin the unlted Natjons organjlzatlon. The


Chinese delegation has refered to this problem twice
before the U.N.Committee on Peacefu1 Uses of t]le Sea-
Bed(on March 3 and 10， 1972)，an(1 has adressed a
letter to the Presjdent of the Secu吋ty Council， requesting
that the letter should be circulated as an omeial docu-
ment of the Councn (on May 20， 1972)，

united States of Ameriea hasonce and again manife鴎ed
her intention or neutrality and non-intervention in the
territorial jssue over the Senkaku瑞lan向(Maむ･ovski's

17.1971，in their re5Pective quality of Spokesman for
lhe Department of State，and others).By the way， the
united States of America has excereised the administl‘a-
tive authorlty on the Senkaku Jslands aftel‘ the Second
World lyar until the NlppcﾄﾞＡｍむ1･ican A誤'eement Qn the
Reverslon of okinawa.
　　 Now， the Senkaku lslands have become the objecむ
of connicting terrltol･ial clalms. Behindtk包issue，there
ls a recent expedaLlon of jmpo以ant oilllesources around
the lslands. Yet， the exploralion and explollntion of
petroleum resources on the continenむal shelf of Ule East
Chlna Sea remajns an undertaklng at future days. How，



ever，if thecontinental shel£in question beg㎞s to be
expLortd and exPloited industrially，then， the Sellkaku
lslands are most nkely むo be qujte a serjous matter.
