Akashi_san> Reading books
Akashi_san,
You don't need to thank me. Every country has its own strengths and weaknesses. There is nothing wrong for me to praise Japanese for their strengths. I think that in order for China to become an affluent country, she must learnthe strengths of others. It is impossible for one country to be perfect to start with. In the past, China didn't want to learn wholeheartedly from others. As a result, there was nothing but defeat. I'm glad that China is going in the right direction.Although there are many areas that need improvement, it has been going in the right way. By joining the WTO, China will become increasingly merged in the international system and it's a good thing for me, China, and the world.
I noticed that in someother forums, some Japanese mentioned the phenomenon that people tend to only praise Japan for her technology and strong economy (but not her culture, or anything that is intangible). I understand that this may cause some Japanese people to be unhappy. Ipersonally think that Japanese culture is unique and should deserve such a recognization. However, there are those who don't think the way I do.
Right now, I'm reading a book entitled "North Koreans in Japan." I've read the first few chapters and Ifind it very interesting. By reading this book I've become more familiar with the Korean community in Japan. The book was written by a second-generation Korean Japanese who had studied in the Korea University of Japan and some famous British university.I think that reading a (relatively unbiased) book is far better than throwing insults over the internet. If Japanese people truly want to understand Chinese people, you must know a bit of Chinese history and think from the Chinese point of view. Thisis just the same as I read a book about Japan and try to think from a Japanese perspective.
