I don't know the authenticity of the report which you read. I doubt that any Chinese person would have the guts to pretend that 　 they are Japanese. I would say that those Hong Kong people whom you claimed that pretend to be Japanese don't evenconsider
themselves as Chinese. In Hong Kong, because of some people's dissatisfaction with the Chinese government and the "success" of colonial education, some don't feel they are Chinese at all. I don't like those people and all I can say that they weremerely
products of history. This situation is the same as people living in Taiwan. I have friends from Taiwan who say they are Chinese 　 living in Taiwan and those who say they are Taiwanese. This is again a product of history, all I can say is that theymust eliminate this kind of thinking gradually.

(Why? 　 I think it is the people in Taiwan who make the decision.)

You mentioned that some Hong Kong Chinese pretend to be Japanese in Australia. Although this is totally unacceptable to me,I would say that it is due to some criminal activities conducted by Chinese from the mainland. I also know that there are Chinese
triads in Japan, active especially in some of the redlight districts in Tokyo. I don't like what those people dobecause they are harming the society. However, because of this, a lot of Japanese people think that most or all Chinese people are like that, which is definitely not correct. There are good and bad people in every country, and what is "bad" depends on yourinterpretation. For example, (Sorry, the following example may be a bit controversial, this is just for discussion and I harbour no evil intention.) I read in a news article that "sex tours" are very common in Japan. (I think that Japanese people would know morethan I do about this topic.) All Chinese people would think this is bad; however, in Japan it is more or less acceptable.

(I'm bored with this kind of superficial coverage by Western media. Western guys don't make "sex tours" to Thailand,Philippines, etc., but this is merely because they have racial prejudice toward Asian women. Actually, brothels in Moscow are filled with customers from as far as the U.K. And I know Japanese X-rated videos are selling well in Hong Kong. If Hong Kong becomes byfar richer than Japan, many Hong Kongers will make "sex tours" to Japan.)
