Continue...(part 2)
You mentioned that some Hong Kong Chinese pretend to be Japanese in Australia. Although this is totally unacceptable to me, I would say that it is due to some criminal activities conducted by Chinese from the mainland. I also know that there areChinese triads in Japan, active especially in some of the redlight districts in Tokyo. I don't like what those people do because they are harming the society. However, because of this, a lot of Japanese people think that most or all Chinese people are likethat, which is definitely not correct. There are good and bad people in every country, and what is "bad" depends on your interpretation. For example, (Sorry, the following example may be a bit controversial, this is just for discussion and I harbour noevil intention.) I read in a news article that "sex tours" are very common in Japan. (I think that Japanese people would know more than I do about this topic.) All Chinese people would think this is bad; however, in Japan it is more or less acceptable. However, there are something that is considered "bad" no matter where, like triads. However, while we are angry at the people, you must understand that China does not have as high a literacy rate as Japan does yet. Those who are not as educated will tend todo "bad" things to earn a living. Also, the living standard in China is not as high as in Japan. If they have a choice, I am sure they would not leave their country (legally or illegally). This is the same as many years ago in Hong Kong there were"boat people" from Vietnam. I understand that they came because the living standards in Vietnam is not that high, and I don't discriminate against them. I actually know a few of them who are very hardworking and admirable.
Back to the Hong Kongpeople issue, there are (N.) Koreans who claim to be Chinese. It does not mean that they are discriminated against or something. Also, some Okinawans claim that they are not Japanese. I know that these are very complexed issues and cannot be explained byjust a few words.
Canada is a very friendly country. There is no (or almost no) discrimination. In my neighbourhood, there are people from Hong Kong, Taiwan, mainland China, Korea, Africa, and the white people....we live together in harmony.Canada is indeed a very good country to live in.
In case you don't know, I am a Hong Kong Chinese myself, and I feel 100% Chinese.
