.....China knows that in order to exert a greater influence in the world, she must possess a powerful economy, one that can approach that of the US. However, China has just started economic reforms 20 years ago, there are many problems to be solvedbefore the economy can continue to grow strongly and healthily. That is why all Chinese people are so happy that Mr. Zhu Rongji assumes the post of prime minister. If China continues to become more and more open and stable, more foreign students will goback to help construct their motherland; this includes Chinese students studying in Japan. For a portion of them, they chose to stay in Japan because their future seems more stable in Japan; however; when China develops to the point where the workingenvironment is not much different from Japan, many people will return to help construct a more powerful China. Now, every year, more and more Chinese students are returning to China to work. To give you an example, many economic experts that help make economicpolicies in China graduated from Harvard, Standford,and so on. Many Chinese accountants, economists, engineers, US-policy experts who studied in foreign universities are returning to China. The salaries might not be very high, but everybody has one goal inmind -- - to make China stronger. I don't know how many Chinese students who studied in Japan returned to China; but from what I have heard and read, Japanese people tend to discriminate against them in the workplaces...if that is the case, it will beJapan's loss because students who studied abroad will usually have a "pro-" feeling towards the country in which he or she studies. If the student learned things in a country and returns to his or her motherland with a NEGATIVE feeling about the country inwhich he of she studied, isn't it a loss for Japan? One of the reasons for an ambitious foreign student plan is to cultivate "pro-whatever the countries in which the foreign students study."
