The facts of yesterday and today speak for themselves.
昨日そして本日の出来事はそれら自体が雄弁に主張しています。
The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.
合衆国の国民は、既にその意見をまとめ、かつ自国民の安全と自国の安全性それ自体の重要性を十分に理解しています。
As commander in chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.
陸海軍の最高指揮官として、私は我が国の防衛のためのあらゆる手段を講じるよう命令を下しました。
But always will our whole nation remember the character of the onslaught against us.
しかしながら、我が国の国民の誰であれ、私たちに向けられた猛襲の性質を忘れることはないでしょう。
No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.
この計画的な侵略行為を克服するのにどんなに時間がかかろうとも、合衆国の国民はその正当性に基づいて、完全な勝利を勝ち取る所存です。
I believe that I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make it very certain that this form of treachery shall never again endanger us.
私は、議会および国民の総意を推察し、我が国が最高レベルで自国の防衛を図るべきのみならず、このような悪辣な行為によって再び我が国が危機に晒されるべきではないことを明らかにすべきときであると信じます。
Hostilities exist.
敵は現存しています。
There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger.
わが国民、わが国土、そしてわが国の権益が重大な危機に見舞われてることに疑いの余地はありません。
With confidence in our armed forces, with the unbounding determination of our people, we will gain the inevitable triumph -- so help us God.
我が軍への信頼と、我が国民による自由な意思によって、私たちは必ずや最終的な勝利を獲得するでしょう。 -- 主よ私たちにご加護を。
I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7th, 1941, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese empire.
わたしは議会に対して、1941年12月7日に日本から蒙った謂れが無く卑劣な攻撃を以って、合衆国と日本帝国とが戦争状態に入った旨の布告を宣言するよう要請します。
