As the threat of death squads continues,
Iraqi civilians have taken security into their own hands.
This week Isam Rasheed takes Alive in Baghdad viewers to Adhamiya,
in the middle of the night, where three men guard a civilian checkpoint
in the neighborhood.
暗殺団の脅威が続いている為、イラクの市民は自らの手で安全管理を行います。
今週、Isam ラシードは、バグダッドの視聴者を Adhamiya に案内します。
そこでは、真夜中、三人の男達が地区の市民による検問所をガードしています。

They’ll tell you about their work, their hopes,
and fears for their families.
彼らは彼らの仕事、希望、家族への懸念についてあなたに話すでしょう。

The US and Iraqi governments might call them terrorists, they consider
themselves to be doing whats necessary to keep their homes safe.
アメリカとイラク政府は、彼らをテロリストと呼ぶかもしれません。

Each night,Iraqis take turns keeping watch over their neighborhoods,
to protect their families from death squads.

The neighborhood is calm,but there are some places which need protection.
地区は静かです。しかし保護を必要とする場所もあります。

The men in these areas will begin to guard them from strangers
who are coming to this area, and taking people to their death.
これらの地区の男達は、この地区にやって来て、人々に死をもたらす
よそ者達から住民を守る為に警備し始めるでしょう。

To protrct this area.

To protect it from what ?
誰から守るのですか。

To protect it from any stranger who comes here.
Because of the situation now in Iraq, if any stranger comes to our area,
we stop him and ask him, "Why are you here ?
What are you doing here ? Did you come to visit someone ?"
If he has a gun, we will shoot him, or try to grab him, and detain him.
But if he has a gun and tries to shoot us, we will shoot him back.
It depends on the situation.
ここにやって来るどんなよそ者から守る為だよ。
今のイラクの情勢だから、よそ者がこの地区にやって来たら、
そいつを止めて尋ねるんだ。
「何故ここにいる」「ここで何をしている。誰かを訪ねて来たのか」
もし銃を持っていたら、そいつを撃つ。
あるいは、そいつを捕えようとして、拘留する。
しかし銃を持っていて、撃ってきたら、こちらも撃ち返す。
状況次第さ。
