Iraq's government to score victory over Sadr: FM

BAGHDAD, Aug. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Iraq's interim Minister of Foreign Affairs Hoshiar al-Zibari said Monday that his government would score a decisive victory over radical Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr's militia.
"This is one of the first security challenges that face our newgovernment. We need to be decisive, we need to be strong, we needto impose the rule of law and order throughout the country," Zibaritold reporters.
"The prime minister was very clear... he will not allow ortolerate any armed militias to be above the law and to challengethe police and he asked them to leave the city," Zibari added.Iraq's Prime Minister Ayad Allawi visited Najaf on Sunday, whereIraqi security forces backed by US troops have been battling Sadr'smilitia. Allawi demanded the fighters to leave the holy city ofNajaf.
However, Sadr vowed to fight until his "last drop of blood" asNajaf has witnessed its fifth straight day of intense clashes.Meanwhile, Zibari added, "We have offered Moqtada Sadr manytimes a way out... the political process is wide open for him."Allawi announced at a press conference Saturday that he hadinvited Sadr to participate in the country's democratic electionsin January 2005.
