そんな間柄なのに、日本版にはない英字版にインタビュー記事が報道されています。
朝日ちゃんが日本には報道せずに外国に向けて嫌いな方の報道をする？ 怪しい、実に怪しい（笑）。

Q: What are your thoughts about the request by families of abductees to impose economic sanctions on North Korea if no negotiation progress is made?

A: It is only natural for the families to seek such an option as a way of producing results. But we are not yet ready to implement such sanctions. We feel the issues should be resolved through negotiations.

A: I considered such legislation with my Diet colleagues before becoming deputy chief Cabinet secretary. However, there is a huge difference between having such an option and actually implementing it.

Q: What approach do you consider effective for resolving the abduction issue?

A: Although it is not out in the open, we are continuing contacts with North Korea. The worst thing we could do is be hasty. We are now in the middle of negotiations. We have asked the returned abductees to trust us, and they have maintained that trust. We cannot compromise on the abduction issue. An opportunity will appear amid changing international circumstances, and we will not miss it.
