Problems of 'scientific' whaling 　 WILLIAM DE LA MARE

Some Japanese researchers seem reluctant to accept
analyses showing that these estimates will
be cripplingly imprecise because of sampling variability,
unless the research were to continue for decades, with total samples
of tens of thousands of whales 　 3，4.

つまり「数十年にわたり何万（、何百万）という鯨のサンプル数を採らない限り致命的な不正確さを伴うという分析結果」

っていう論文がもうすでに存在しているってこと。

（ちなみに「total samplesof tens of thousands of whales」を“何百万” 　 も含めて訳すのかは、おれには分からない）

そしてそれは多分下記のことだろうと思われる。
