Comments of WWF Japan on recent media coverage of its position on whaling

　　 WWF-Japan has recently drawn extensive news coverage for public statements that commercial whaling could be done in a sustainable manner. Our statements were seen as supporting a resumption of commercial whaling. That is not the case. WWF-Japan remains fully aligned with the WWF worldwide network and we remain committed to preventing the return of widespread whale hunts. We regret that our public statements have prompted confusion among the press, the public, and our members. There has been no change in the position of WWF-International or WWF-Japan on the issue of commercial whaling.
