Certainly it would be nice for Japan to have Diaoyutai islands. However, the Chinese people won't agree since they have been Chinese territory right from the beginning. The best way to solve the problem is, as I mentioned before, to have constructive negotiations. The Japanese government thinks that it cannot give up Diaoyutai, we Chinese are in the exact same position. You don't want to see a conflict ,right? Then I guess that it must be settled on the bargaining table. That is the farthest Chinese people can go.

In fact, this does not only apply to Japan, China is willing to negotiate controversial territories with any country. We do not want any confrontation; the principle of the Chinese way of solving territorial issues is through negotiations. I think that it is the most suitable and responsible way of handling these issues.
