Education is the most important.

Dear Ms/Mrs Humanbondage:

Thank you for your insightful opinions. I find that I did learn a lot from what you posted earlier in this forum.

Let me start by saying that I'm no expert on Chinese politics or social development historywhatsoever, but I do read a lot of books about China's history and recent economic and social development. I was born in Hong Kong, China, and am studying at the University of Toronto. (As you can tell, I'm quite young!) Please forgive my naiveness about whathad happened and goes on in China.

I agree with you that Chinese society does have a lot of problems to solve. Drug trading, illegal immigration, and prostitution are just some of things that we all agree that Chinese people must pay attentionto. However, please allow me to say one unworthy opinion of mine: the main reason for all these unfavourable things that go on in Chinese societies is the "low education level of those people." I'm not referring to those who come and live in foreignlands legally. I'm strictly referring to illegal immigrants. Since their education level is low, it is practically impossible for us to explain to them the history of Chinese exploitation or "sophisticated" themes such as Chinese nationalism. In theirminds, there is only one question: "where and how do I get the most money so I can live a good life?" They don't care about Confucianism or whether the prostitute girls are crying and all that. When we try to explain to them all the law, image, andimmorality of committing these crimes, it's like "a cat talking to a cow." Therefore, I think that the only SOLUTION to the problem is EDUCATION. I believe that anyone in this world can be refined and rejuvenated by education. If China wants to project abetter image and positive influence abroad, education is the first place to start. However, now comes to the huge task of implementing an education system that reaches absolutely everyone in the country with only a modest amount of fund. I'm not theeducation minister of China so I don't know the difficulties or technicalities of actually implementing an education system, but I bet the job's pretty tough.

I understand that Chinese females are living in a harsh environment in many parts of China.I, who was born in Hong Kong, feel lucky that I don't see any unfair things for females in Hong Kong (in general). However, every time I think of the situation of Chinese females in some parts of China, I feel very bad. I made up my mind that if myfinancial resources in the future allow me to raise more than one or two kids, I will adopt several Chinese girls to be my dear daughters. That's why I must study hard and earn a lot of money so I will be able to devote all I have to give them a good future.
