It may be true that President Jiang Zemin does not have firm support from the military yet, it does not mean that if he does he can do whatever he wants. In fact, in China, nobody wants or dares to be "pro-Japan" because of all the past atrocious deeds committed by the Japanese army. Chinese people may say that Japan is good at making good-quality products, but no one would just say "I like Japan" because he or she will be stigmatized as a traitor or a person who has forgot all about the past atrocities. Only when Japan and China settles past scores, Chinese people can dare to say "I like Japan" in the public. It may never happen but I hope it will happen in the future.
