Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat on Thursday accused Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) of "betraying the interests of the
Palestinian people."

The outburst, whose ferocity surprised even Arafat's long-time associates, occurred during the chairman's meeting with UN envoy Terje Larsen, according to a Palestinian source who was present.

"Abu Mazen is betraying the interests of the Palestinian people," Arafat said, according to the source. "He is behaving like a tyro who doesn't know what he is doing. How does he dare to stand next to an Israeli flag and next to Sharon and to act friendly with a man whose history is known to all the world?"


アラファトがアッバス首相を「民族の裏切り者」と非難したという報道。
相変わらず議長は、権力闘争が三度の飯より好物らしい。
（まさかこれって「暗殺しちまえ！」ということか？）

Meanwhile, Dahlan held his second meeting of the 　 week with Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz 　 at the Erez checkpoint Thursday night.


Dahlan urged Israel to release more Palestinian 　 prisoners and to transfer security authority 　 for another West Bank city to the PA. But Mofaz 　 rejected both requests, saying the PA must 　 first begin disarming the terrorist
organizations.
"The next few weeks are critical, and the moment 　 of truth is approaching," he said.


モファズ国防相（前参謀総長）とダーランがガザで会談。
より多くのパレスチナ受刑者の解放を求めるダーランと、
対テロ組織非武装化を求めるモファズ、進展無し。
（最初から見込みはないけど、とりあえず連絡をつけておこうという会合だったらしい
その程度の会合でも、継続して開かれている分、大分マシになった）

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was quoted as saying on 　 Friday that he wanted to help his Palestinian 　 counterpart and would continue to release 　 prisoners, but not those with "blood on their 　 hands."
"I, Ariel Sharon, want to help 　 Prime Minister Abu Mazen,"

シャロンはイタリアの新聞のインタビューにこんな感じで答えて
受刑者をより解放することを明言。「ただし、手が血にまみれていない者に限る」
ついでにこんなことも言ってる。

"Personally, I think Abu Mazen is in need of 　 external help, above all from Europe. The EU 　 should understand that just by refusing funds 　 for 　 (Palestinian President Yasser) Arafat and 　 supporting Abu Mazen, results can be 　 obtained."
