First of all, have you read and compared what is written in the typical old and new textbooks? This is important! Why is it pre-assumed that the textbooks have been changed for the worse? I am truely glad that these new textbooks have been officially qualified (by very democratic means) and that the Japanese youth will have a more balanced view of history. I grew up in 3 countries, that is Canada, U.S. and Japan and had the opportunity to be educated in their public schools. Each country has it's own view of history, which sometimes contradict each other. I would have to say that the typical Japanese textbook have been shaded by leftists, communists and also the U.S. General headquarters in the early stage after WW2. Yes, I agree that we should learn from the past and try to avoid making mistakes in the future. But shouldn't we try to know the facts before we accuse someone else. Have you imagined what would the world, or Asia be like if Japan did not stand up against the Western countries at the time? I beleive the Japanese people and government is doing a good job in compensating and feflecting on the past. Japan has not used millitary agression for the past 60 years, concentrating on economic growth while aiding other countries in need. I do not hate the Chinese or any other ethnic group in particular, but one thing I want to say is that we should try to reflect upon ourselves before starting to blame others.
