VAWW-Net is composed of 45 human rights and women's organizations dealing with the issues of women in armed conflict and is a loose network coordinated by the Asian Centre for Women's Human Rights (ASCENT) through Indai Sajor. A chapter in Tokyo, called Vaww-Net Japan, was set up to deal with the issues of Japan's war time responsibility.
The prime movers of VAWW-Net are Marieme Helie Lucas of the Women Living Under Muslim Laws (WLUML) France, Yayori Matsui of the Asia Japan Women's Resource Center (AJWRC) Japan, Lepa Mladjenovic of the Autonomous Women's Center Against Sexual Violence (Yugoslavia), Ariane Brunet of the International Center for Human Rights and Democratic Development (ICHRDD) Canada, Heisoo Shin of the Korean Council for Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan (Korea), Tina Dolgopol - Flinders Univeristy, Australia, Sunila Abeyesekera of (INFORM) Sri Lanka, Florence Butegwa of the Associates for Change (Uganda), Keo Keang of the Kampuchebot Association, Cambodia, Sultana Kamal of the Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK) Bangladesh, Agnes Callamard of Amnesty International (AI) London, Suzuyo Takasato of the Okinawan Women Act Against Military Violence, Japan, Ancil Adrian Paul of the International Alert (IA) London, Leilani Farha of the Center on Housing Rights and Eviction (COHRE) Geneva, Eleanor Conda of the Malaya Lolas, Philippines, Samya Burney of Human Rights Watch - New York, Lisa Kois of the International Center for Ethnic Studies - Sri Lanka and Indai Lourdes Sajor of the Asian Centre for Women's Human Rights (ASCENT) Philippines.
