When you are engaging a war, there is nothing in between. I said this before, but the decision to do nothing *is* a decision. If you do not help us in fighting terrorism, you are in fact helping the terrorists.

同じ土俵に登ってもらわないと困るんでしょうね。

That is correct. If we are not standing on the same ground, argument is pointless.

どういう条件を満たせば戦略核の使用が「止むを得ない」ものとして承認されるのか。どういう条件を満たしているから、劣化ウランの使用が「止むを得なかった」のか。

First of all, I do not concede that depleted uranium is harmful to the human body. Science, which you seem to value so much, has not proved this substance is dangerous; in fact, every study I have seen, including those published by the World Health Organization, indicate it is not harmful, and I have not read any scientific study that contradicts. As you said before, scientific principles change according to new observation; therefore, this may change in the future. However, until it does, we must use the studies at hand.

What military action is justified depends on what causes 1) the most damage to the enemy, 2) with the fewest coalition casualties, and 3) the least amount of collateral damage to non-combatants.

If you are asking when military action is justified, it is justified when the consequences of not fighting are worse than the consequences of fighting. If the enemy is known to be developing weapons of mass destruction and you know he is willing to use them against you, it is clear you must fight.

I read your post about the Afghanistan war, and I understand you were against it, too. But what I don't see is an alternative solution: what should we have done instead to protect our country from terrorism?

This is why I need to know where you stand. If you really do not have any moral principles, as you say, then it doesn't matter what America does -- you'll just hate us anyway. If so, then I don't see any point in continuing this conversation. But if you actually believe world peace is "good," and that what America is doing is destructive to world peace and thus "bad," then we can still talk.
