対イラク武力行使

先ほどのメールに対してバグダッドのRiverbendさんからすぐに返事があった。届いたのはバグダッド時間で８日夜明け前の３時頃だ。日本時間の１１月２日に届いたものと、先ほど届いたものの２通。それほど長くはないし、英語でそのまま掲載することにした。

hear Japan is a wonderful place and I know the people are very educated, cultured, and intelligent.

I hear that your government might be sending troops to our country and I wonder how the majority of the Japanese feel about this? The people here don't want more troops... I guess it won't matter if they're Japanese or American... occupation is occupation. I'm sorry your country has to be involved... I'm sure the people would much rather their sons and daughters remain safe at home.

The whole contract business is complicated and so secretive here in Iraq. We never hear about which companies are getting the sub-contracts and from who. The big problem right now is that the majority of the contracts are being given to foreign companies that are too scared to begin working in Iraq...

Thanks again for writing to me... it's wonderful to have a Japanese friend...

My internet connection is only good late at night- the
rest of the day it gives me problems. But that's ok-
I begin answering emails and writing at night when we
have electricity...
