A more substantive irritant in Japanese-Korean relations is allegations that the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA) has been paying off Japanese politicians in order to assure their support for Seoul's policies.
KCIAが東京で賄賂工作をしているという何ヶ月間も流布されている噂（での額）は、ソウルがアメリカ人の政治家に使うとされる年間「50万ドルから100万ドル」より極めて大きい。
Rumors have been circulating for months that the KCIA bribes in Tokyo are "much bigger than the $500,000 to $1 million" Seoul allegedly spends annually on American politicians.
そして去る1月に、前米国国務省韓国問題担当のDonald L. Ranard氏がそのような嫌疑を認める米国の機密文書を引き合いに出して、その賄賂工作（the influence-purchases）に関連する二人の日本人前首相、Nobusuke Kishi と Kakuei Tanakaの名に言及していた。
And in January, former U.S. State Department Korean affairs expert Donald L. Ranard cited classified American documents in support of such charges and mentioned the names of two former Japanese Prime Ministers, Nobusuke Kishi and Kakuei Tanaka, in connection with the influence-purchases.
