President Kim Dae-Jung has made an unprecedented display of atonement for corruption scandals plaguing his administration as South Korea's top prosecutor became the latest official to be disgraced.
金大中大統領は、面目を失わせられる韓国のトップ検察官が最近クビになったので、彼の管理を悩ます汚職事件に対する空前の謝罪をした。
The Nobel Peace Prize winner made three apologies during a five-minute statement read at the start of a nationally televised New Year news conference along with most of his top ministers.

"I apologise to the nation," Kim said at the start of his statement, referring to three major scandals which have seen the resignation or arrest of a dozen top finance, intelligence agency, government and presidential officials in recent months.
