President Jiang Zemin told Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi on Sunday that he wants a swift end to Tokyo's ban on some Chinese farm products, a Japanese government official said.
江沢民主席はいくつかの中国農産物の日本の輸入禁止を早く解除して欲しいと日曜日に小泉首相に話した、と日本の報道官は述べた。
The two countries have been locked in a bitter trade dispute since April, triggered by Japan's decision to impose temporary curbs on surging imports of Chinese leeks, shiitake mushrooms and tatami rushes used to make traditional Japanese mats.
二ヶ国は４月以来厳しい輸入論争が続いており、中国ネギやシイタケ、そして日本の伝統的な畳に使われるイグサなど、押し寄せる輸入品に一時的制限を果たす日本の決定によって、始まった。
China lashed back in June with 100 percent punitive tariffs on Japanese automobiles, mobile phones and air conditioners.
中国は、日本のエアコンや携帯電話、自動車に 100％の関税をかけて６月に対抗した。
"China believes the issue must be solved through a dialogue...We hope to see an early solution to the issue," the Japanese official quoted Jiang as telling Koizumi.

He said Koizumi agreed that the two nations should try to solve the issue in a friendly manner.
