＞韓国政府高官は、１４日「独島（ドクト、日本名・竹島）問題は協議や交渉の概念ではない」とし「『紛争地域化』を目指した日本側の相次いだ試みに、厳しく対応していく方針」だと話した。この高官は「１６日、島根県議会が『竹島（独島の日本名）の日』制定条例案を予定通り可決させる場合、政府レベルから、独島の主権を内外に明言する諸措置を取っていく考え」だと述べた。(2005.03.14 17:04)

SEOUL (AFP) - Foreign Minister Ban Ki-Moon says South Korea (news - web sites) should take action in response to any "provocative act" from Japan concerning a dispute over tiny islands controlled by Seoul.
"We should take tangible steps to solidify our sovereignty if Japan does a provocative act," Ban told a cabinet meeting.
「もし日本が挑発的な法令を作るなら、我々は主権を固める明白なステップを踏むべきである」と Ban が閣僚会議で述べた。
The dispute over the islets in the Sea of Japan (East Sea) inflamed nationalistic passions in South Korea, with protests joined by politicians, right-wing nationalists and liberal groups.
日本海の小島について、政治家やウヨ、そしてリベラルな団体が参加した抗議行動で頂点に達した。
On Monday, two activists cut off their little fingers outside the embassy. Eight protestors scuffled with police later while trying to scale a wall of the compound at midnight.
月曜日には、ふたりの活動家らが日本大使館の外で小指を切断した。また、真夜中に、８人の抗議者らが建物の壁を乗り越えようとして警察と格闘した。
Dozens of demonstrators visited the area Tuesday for a series of rallies.
多数のデモ参加者が、一連の大集会のために訪れた。
