Whaling Farm in Inland Sea

Regarding the letter from Mr. J. Button of Himeji, I would like to propose the conversion of Japan's Inland Sea (Seto-Naikai) into an enormous sea farm in order to "artificially " raise whales there just as the cow is regenerated for the food and skin in your country.

Of course, the whales which will be grown in this giant pond are to be eaten by the Japanese people. Foreign environmentalists cannot complain about this wonderful idea because Japan never kills naturally regenerated whales and would not cause natural whales to decrease in number by this project.

Now Japanese "whale-meat" lovers would be able to sate their appetite for the delicacy without any reservation because they eat what they grow.

Nevertheless, I strongly believe that you environmentalists are certain to criticize Japan by saying that the Japanese have gone so far as to breed "lovely" whales to kill and eat them.

You seem to be arguing for argument's sake in defending the antiwhaling campaign and I admit, I, too, am guilty in this respect. You must learn the Japanese proverb, "Glue and logic adhere to anything."
