頑張れパレスチナ！（第２版）

マハトマ・ガンジーはナチが台頭する１９３０年代にすでにシオニズムの犯罪性に気づきその事を記述している。

「しかし、私が彼等に同情しているからといって、私は正義を無視するわけにはいかないのです。ユダヤ人のための国家建設という叫びは私には大したアピールにはなりません。聖書に彼等を制裁しろと書いてあるとか、パレスティニアへ戻ることを彼らが心から追い求めていること。（だけでは正当な理由とはならないでしょう）なぜ、彼等は他の民族のように、自分が生まれ、生計を立てているところを自分の国にしてはならないのか？
イギリスがイギリス人に属するように、また、フランスがフランス人に属するように、パレスティナはアラブに属するのです。アラブ人にユダヤ人を押し付けることは間違いであり、非人道的行為です。今日パレスチナで起こっていることは、いかなる倫理規定によっても、正当化されることはできません。委任統治は、先の戦争での制裁以外のなにものでもないのです。誇り高いアラブの人口を減らし、そこにユダヤ人を入植させることにより、
パレスティナを部分的に、あるいは完全にユダヤの国に作り変えるということはまさに、人道上の犯罪でしょう。」

But my sympathy does not blind me to the requirements of justice. The cry for the national home for the Jews does not make much appeal to me. The sanction for it is sought in the Bible and the tenacity with which the Jews have hankered after return to Palestine. Why should they not, like other peoples of the earth, make that country their home where they are born and where they earn their livelihood?

Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English or France to the French. It is wrong and inhuman to impose the Jews on the Arabs. What is going on in Palestine today cannot be justified by any moral code of conduct. The mandates have no sanction but that of the last war. Surely it would be a crime against humanity to reduce the proud Arabs so that Palestine can be restored to the Jews partly or wholly as their national home.
