The Greens' leader and Tasmanian Senator Bob Brown said there was an outpouring of support from local people when the vessel arrived.
緑の党リーダーでタスマニア選出上院議員、ロバート・ブラウン氏は、船が到着した時には地元の人々のほとばしる
ような支持があったと語った。

"Here in Hobart, it's Sea Shepherd city today," Senator Brown said.
「今日はここホバートはシーシェパードの日だ」とボブ・ブラウン上院議員は語った。

"The support is just phenomenal - it seems like everybody's supporting them except the Government."

Senator Brown welcomed Captain Watson to Australia and presented him with a box of apricots.
ブラウン議員はワトソン船長をオーストラリアへ喜んで迎え、アプリコットを一箱贈った。

"Some fresh Tasmanian produce - I didn't want them getting scurvy," he said.
「タスマニアの生鮮食品を少し。彼らが壊血病にならないように」と議員は言った。

Some of the ship's crew have headed to the Salamanca Market and shops to buy more fresh food, but Senator Brown said
they were in good shape after weeks at sea.

When the Steve Irwin leaves Hobart it will return to Antarctic waters to pursue the Japanese whalers.

Japanese authorities had voiced concern that Australia was not blocking the vessel from entering the country, saying
Sea Shepherd's "pirate-like" and violent actions must be rejected.

Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett, who had been urged to meet the ship in Hobart, said it was entitled to berth.
