AN ANTI-WHALING ship has been placed in quarantine in Hobart after it received a letter containing suspicious white powder.
反捕鯨船はホバート港で怪しげな白い粉の入った手紙を受取り、検疫停船期間で隔離された。 　　　　　　

The Sea Shepherd vessel, the Steve Irwin, sailed up the Derwent River yesterday to be met by hundreds of supporters.
シーシェパードの船、スティーブ・アーウィンは昨日ダーヴェルト河に入り数百人のサポーターに迎えられる予定だった。

But the welcome turned sour when Sea Shepherd captain Paul Watson was handed the anonymous letter and discovered the white powder.
しかしシーシェパード船長、ポール・ワトソンが匿名の手紙を受取り、白い粉をみつけたとき、歓迎は暗転した。

Police seized the envelope for analysis and placed the ship under quarantine in case the powder was dangerous.
警察が封筒を分析のために押収し、粉が危険なものである場合を考慮して船を検疫停間に指定した。

The Steve Irwin has taken a break from chasing Japanese whalers around Antarctica and is in Hobart until Wednesday to refuel and collect provisions before returning.

をした後、南極へ戻ることになっている。
