Japan's Institute of Cetacean Research (ICR) refused to say whether the Japanese fleet had this season operated in waters
claimed by Australia.
日本鯨類研究所（ICR）は日本の船団が今シーズン、オーストラリアの主張する海域で操業したかどうかを言うことを
拒否している。
Spokesman Glenn Inwood said he understood the whaling ships were banned from docking in Australian ports.
スポークスマン、グレン・インウッドは捕鯨船がオーストラリアの港へ入渠することを禁止されていると理解している

"Japanese vessels whenever they have needed any sorts of repair have never had to go to either Australia or New Zealand anyway,"
Mr Inwood said.

"I think both the Australian and New Zealand governments have made it clear to Japan that the vessels are not to dock in
New Zealand or Australia.

"Having said that, the ICR is not making any comment on the status of their vessels or their whereabouts, or the status

Cpt Watson said the damage to the Yushin Maru No.2 probably occurred when the harpoon ship headed into thick ice
while being pursued by his protest ship, the Steve Irwin.
ワトソン船長は第２勇新丸の損傷はおそらく捕鯨船が彼の抗議船、スティーブ・アーウィンに追跡されて厚い氷に
突入した際に生じたものだろうと語った。
Last year, Sea Shepherd activists Benjamin Potts and Giles Lane boarded the Yushin Maru No.2 to deliver a letter of protest.

The damaged Japanese ship was not expected to be fixed until Thursday, and Cpt Watson said its loss would be a blow to

Greenpeace said Australia regularly denied access to Japanese whalers except in cases of genuine distress.
グリーンピースはオーストラリアが正式に日本の捕鯨船のアクセスを、真性の遭難の場合以外否認したと語った。
"The Federal Court ruled on 15 January 2008 that Japanese whaling fleets operations in Australian Antarctic waters are illegal,"
Greenpeace said in a statement.
「連邦裁判所は2008年１月15日に日本の捕鯨船によるオーストラリア南極海域での操業は違法であると判示した」
とグリーンピースはその声明で述べている。
"Australia's claim over these waters is not accepted by Japan and some other nations."
「オーストラリアのこの海域に関する主張は日本と、いくつかの他の国々によって受け入れられていない」ともされている。
The Steve Irwin is expected to reach Hobart this week to refuel before heading back to confront the Japanese whaling fleet
early next week.
スティーブ・アーウィン号は給油のため、今週ホバートに到着し、来週の早い時期に日本の捕鯨と対決するために出航する。
