Ｑ１：Does VA recognize that Japan conducted biological warfare tests on U.SPOWs held Japan-occupied Manchuria( Mukden POW Camp) During World War Ⅱ?

A-1: No confirming evidence has as yet been presented that biological warfare experiments conducted on those POWs who were held in Mukden. VA is willing to review any information that would shed light on how these POWs were treated and the cause or cause of their illnesses or deaths, not only for compensation purposes but also for medical reasons. Knowing the specific type of biological agents used, if any, also would assist VA physicians in determining the best course of treatment for these individuals.
