日本のメディアが検証なしにこうした情報を垂れ流すことは危険に思えて仕方がないのです。

Schools with ties to North Korea in Japan threatened amid anger over abductees' fates

TOKYO - Schools with ties to Pyongyang were on alert Wednesday, targeted by death threats after North Korea ( news - web sites) said most of the 11 Japanese it had abducted decades ago were dead, school officials said.



Most students arrived at the Tokyo Korean Junior and High School wearing nondescript clothing, opting out of their distinctive Korean school uniform that could single them out for attacks, school spokesman O Heng Dok said.

The school had received three death threats in the past 24 hours and a group of students had been intimidated by anti-Pyongyang hard-liners since news of the abductees broke late Tuesday, O said.

Kobe's North Korean High School in western Japan received similar threats, said spokesman Pak Yun Gyu.

The schools, which often face harassment from right wing nationalists, sent students home early before dark, temporarily canceled extracurricular activities and had teachers maintain a vigil at the school and key commuting points.

When North Korea was officially founded in 1948, many ethnic Koreans in Japan chose to align themselves to Pyongyang although they had roots in the South.
