Democracy
Japan is of course a democratic country. People can express their own opinions. So, when Ishihara expressed his personal view on Tibet, that was only the "opinion" of the people of Tokyo, right? OK, I'll buy that. So, in that case, when the Japanese embassador in Vancouver remarked that it's part of Japanese culture to beat their wives, I guess that it means that all Japanese people, including you, the prime minister, and the mayor of Tokyo, think that it is normal to beat their wives senseless because it's part of Japanese culture.
However, even the Japanese embassador made a remark like that, anybody who can think clearly knows that "that specific remark" doesn't apply to all Japanese people! Even the Japanese embassador made such a remark, I'm sane enough to think that there are many nice and responsible husbands in Japan, aren't there? And I think you are or will be one too, don't you agree with me?
