My view
I never said I didn't know those reasons in the first place. I never said that China was a utopia or something. I didn't say anti-Japanese education is right. I didn't say that what communism is still believed by a large number of Chinese nowadays.
I don't care whether Chinese soldiers fought under ROC or PRC. All I know is that all of them deserve my respect for resisting Japanese aggression.
I hear what you say about the communist government after gaining control of the mainland after1949. However, I don't care whether it is the communist government or the GMD government who won or lost. All I care is how I can help improve the living conditions of the people living in China. Taiwan is certainly a place of interest. I have manyfriends from Taiwan who tell me a lot about that place, and I quite enjoy talking with them.
The reasons to many problems in China cannot be explained by simply a few words. If you want to know the roots of the problems, I bet you must read at least100 books on Chinese history and society. However, I have not read many yet so I say to myself that I cannot draw conclusions too early.
Criticizing is easy, but when it comes to devising solutions, it is a completely different matter. I cancriticize China anyway I want, but I don't have the confidence to say "No problem! I can fix it!" Do you have that confidence?
The reason why I'm reading a lot of books on China and Chinese society is because I want to know (almost) EVERYTHING about Chinaso I can come up with a solid and feasible solution for China's ills. Merely saying "oh, the communist government is corrupt!" is not the responsibility of an intellectual. An intellectual is one who doesn't desert his or her motherland in times ofcrisis. A responsible intellectual is one who will stay by the side of the motherland regardless of whether the motherland is in a really hopeless or good shape. I tell myself that even if my motherland is reduced to a territory no matter than a few hundredkilometres large, I won't say "oh god, I'm leaving this pathetic nation." I will always stay by her side and fulfill my responsibility of healing the wounds my motherland. Although I'm in Canada, I always love my motherland, regardless of whether she iscorrupt or hopelessly in bad shape. I won't just criticize but will devote all my energy to bring prosperity to all the Chinese people.
Japan is not the only country I'm interested in knowing, I'm presently studying Russian and European history.Anti-Japanese education is definitely not a desirable thing to have. But how do you explain the arrogant attitude of (some) Japanese towards Chinese people? Am I incorrect? I couldn't believe that a MAN would force a woman to kneel on the ground in front of awhole lot of people.
