②'We need unity'
Wali Mohammad, 42, Pashtun

I am a doctor from the southern province of Paktiya. The road from Kabul was destroyed during the war and we want it rebuilt. Poverty and lack of job opportunities are the main problems we face.

We want there to be national unity between all the delegates and we should all come together as one.

③'Neglected by Kabul'
Amir Hamaz Ahmadi, 27, Nuristani

I come from the north-eastern province of Nuristan. We are a mountain people.

Because of our remoteness, we are often neglected by the government in Kabul. We don't have good roads or schools.

Hopefully, the new constitution will bring a period of stability.

⑤'I am an Afghan'
Bashir Ahmed, 45

I am an engineer from Logar province just north of Kabul - I consider myself an Afghan rather than a Tajik or Pashtun.

People in Logar are angry because we've heard that a lot of aid has come into the country but we have yet to see it.

I think in future money should be routed through elected representatives.

⑦'Security'
Fazal Rehman Chamkani, 55, Pashtun

I am a tribal leader from Paktiya. As you can imagine, security is a huge issue for us because of the constant fighting between coalition forces and militants.

My people want to see a constitution that is democratic. There should be no difference between its aims and the ideals of Islam

⑧'Social justice'
Mohammed Daud Akbari, 42, Hazara

I come from the central province of Bamiyan, known to the world as the place where the statues of the Buddha were destroyed by the Taleban.

We Hazaras are a minority Shia community. We want a government that will bring social justice and lasting peace, and protect the rights of all ethnic groups.

⑨'Trauma'
Mohammed Azam Daudfat, 58, Uzbek

I belong to the northern province of Jowzjan, where I am a psychiatrist. Most people in my province suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder after the years of conflict.

I look upon the new constitution as a social contract between all ethnic groups. We should forgive each other for past mistakes.
