エジプトの法務大臣であるFarouk Saif Al Nassr参事官は水曜日（2002年1月2日）、同国の法制度の改正を目的とする、司法、経済および刑罰上の問題を取り扱う14の新法案とともに、同国によるICC規程批准のための新法案が起草されたと発表した。
Nassr法務大臣によると、ICC規程批准のための法案は、必要とされる憲法及び法的側面の考慮事項が盛り込まれ、ICC規程をエジプト国法と一体化するために必要な法改正について明示する。
ACIJLPはエジプト政府の行動を支持し、近い将来これらの法案が議会を通過する可能性を示唆する数々の重要な兆候が見られることを確信するものである。1つは、人民議会議長であるAhmed Fathy Serour博士が議長を務めるEgyptian Association for Penal Law（エジプト刑罰協会）によるICC関連のイベントの開催である。その他にも、同Serour博士が2002年1月3日（木）を皮切りにエジプトで最も発行部数の多い日刊紙であるAl Ahram紙に掲載した一連のICCおよび国法に関する記事などが挙げられる。

Below you will find a press release issued by the Arab Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession (ACIJLP), regarding recent progress towards ratification of the ICC Statute in Egypt. ACIJLP is based in Cairo, Egypt and coordinates the Arab NGO Coalition for the ICC.

New Bill in Egypt for Ratifying the ICC Statute
The Egyptian Minster of Justice Couns. Farouk Saif Al Nassr announced on Wednesday, 2 January 2002, that a new bill for Egypt's ratification to the ICC Statute has been drafted among 14 new laws aiming at reforming the structure of the Egyptian legal system. The 14 bills deal with judicial, economic, and penal issues.
According to the Minister, the bill for ratifying the ICC Statute takes into consideration the required constitutional and legal aspects for Egypt's ratification, and clarifies the legislative amendments that should be passed for integrating the ICC Statutue into the Egyptian national legislation.
The Arab Center for the Independence of the Judiciary and the Legal Profession (ACIJLP), welcomes the Egyptian government's action, and believes that there are some serious indicators showing that the mentioned bill will be passed in Egypt in the near future. The first indicator is organizing some events on the ICC by the Egyptian Association for Penal Law, chaired by the National Speaker Dr. Ahmed Fathy Serour. Another indicator is Dr. Serour's series of articles on the ICC and the national legislation that started on Thursday, 3 January 2002 in Al Ahram newspaper, the most widely-spread daily newspaper in Egypt.
