【エルサレム樋口直樹】パレスチナ自治政府の初代首相に任命されたアッバス・パレスチナ解放機構（ＰＬＯ）事務局長とアラファト自治政府議長が２３日、新内閣の発足で合意した。
パレスチナ自治区ラマラのアラファト議長府では、引き続き閣僚人事などの細部について詰めの協議が続いている。だが、アラファト議長の側近によると、焦点の内相ポストはアッバス氏が兼務し、同氏の信頼が厚い元ガザ地区保安警察長官のダハラン氏が、治安担当国務相に起用される見通しという。

Arafat accepts Abu Mazen's demands for new PA cabinet
Israeli defense sources, in off-the-record remarks, have welcomed the new Abu Mazen government, saying it is a step in the right direction, particularly since it includes Mohammed Dahlan, a sworn opponent of the Hamas military wing.
Hamas railed against the deal, saying "now is not the time for appointing governments; now is the time for resistance." Earlier this month Abu Mazen met Hamas officials in Gaza and said he planned to disarm the military wings of the movement. He was told that first he should dismantle the Fatah's Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade

イスラエル軍関係者はダ−ラン氏の入閣を歓迎。
ハマスは反発。
その他、アメリカやEU、ロシアも歓迎。
おそらくこれは、アラファトの権力縮小の第一歩でしかなく、
今後どんどん議長のパワーは削られていくだろう（と願う）。
イスラエル政府は声明を出していないが、
労働党内の関係者は、「これで和平交渉が始まるだろう」と歓迎。
さらには
「シャロン連立内閣が、内部の強硬派の反対で、
交渉や政権自体が行き詰まるようなときには
労働党が連立に参加しても良い」と。
いずれにせよ、これで、戦争は第２ラウンド「交渉編」に移るかも。

New PA government could bring Labor back into coalition
The establishment of a Palestinian government under Abu Mazen could hasten the chances of coalition changes in Israel, senior Labor Party sources say.
According to these sources, it might be possible for Labor to join Ariel Sharon's government in the not-too-distant future if the prime minister seriously intends to move forward on the peace process. Sharon has several times stated such an intention in the past two weeks, in media interviews and at a Likud pre-Passover meeting.
"If Sharon is serious, and if the National Religious Party and the National Union leave the coalition, we will be there to help him along the way," senior Labor sources said.
