Palestinian officials pointedly noted the Israeli operations came during the London conference on Palestinian reforms, and Hamas - and some Fatah officials - charged that the recent PA-Israeli official meetings were evidence that the PA was helping Israel try to eliminate Hamas.
According to a senior Palestinian source, the Gaza Preventive Security forces have been operating under Arafat's instructions, ever since the PA chairman heard that Hamas leader Mahmud al-Zahar told a newspaper Hamas was capable of replacing the PA. Arafat said after reading the interview, "The Hamas conspiracy against us is beginning to be exposed," and gave specific orders to Gaza Preventive Security chief Rashid Abu Shbak to take action against the Islamic organization.

たしかに、この１週間ほどの軍の対ハマス作戦は、
武装部門司令官殺害、自爆テロ準備中の人間の一斉検挙など、
大きな「成果」を挙げている。
当然、信頼の高い情報が提供されてこそ出来ているわけで、
それが、自治政府によって提供された情報だとしたら、納得がいく。
問題は、この共闘関係が、一時的なものに終わるのか、
それとも、紛争全体を終結に持ち込めるだけの可能性を持つか、ということだろう。）
