これは、イギリスの哲学者、John Stuart Millの言葉である。

鯨を食べて得る”畜生の快楽”よりも”高尚な快楽”を求めよ

という趣旨だ。

It is better to be a human being dissatisfied than a pig satsified;
better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satishied;
And if the fool,or the pig ,are of a different opinion,
it is because they only know their own side of tha question.
The other party to the comparison know both sides.
