正しいことのために簡単に勝てる時戦わなかったら、勝利が確実で損傷が少ない時に戦う意志がなかったら、いつかほとんど勝ち目がなく生き残る可能性も少ないような戦いを強いられるだろう。時として勝つ希望が全くないのに戦うはめになるかもしれない。なぜなら戦って果てたほうが奴隷として生きるよりもましだからだ。
