対イラク武力行使

Expressing the sense of Congress on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks launched against the United States on September 11, 2001

「9・11に起きた米国へのテロ攻撃の記念日にあたり、国会の意思を表明をする」

という決議の中で、

"Since the United States was attacked, it has led an international military coalition in the destruction of two terrorist regimes in Afghanistan and Iraq while using diplomacy and sanctions in cooperation with Great Britain and the international community to lead a third terrorist regime in Libya away from its weapons of mass destruction."
「米国が攻撃された後、米国は有志連合軍を率いてテロ国家アフガニスタンとイラクを崩壊させた。そして英国や国際社会の協力による外交と経済制裁にて、テロ国家リビヤの核武装を防いだ」

これだけ読めば、アフガニスタンだけでなく、イラクやリビヤもテロとの戦いに含まれたと理解できるじゃん。

だから9・11がテロの象徴という意味で「イラクと9・11が結び付けられた」と解釈するのは可能でしょう。

何をそんなに慌ててるの?

ちなみにボンボンの紹介してくれた記事は、イラクとアルカイダの関係をある程度の事実として提示してるよ。

(1)Despite backing Abu Nidal and other secular terrorist groups in the 1980s, Iraqi support for international terrorism declined markedly in subsequent years; the last act of anti-American terrorism the US government formally tied to Iraq was back in early 1993.

これはアルカイダとは関係ないけど、「1980年以降顕著に減ったものの、イラクは国際テロを支持し、1993年で最後とはいえ、米国はその事実関係を把握している。」


(2)While the Jordanian-born al-Zarqawi and his followers were indeed located inside Iraq's borders prior to the US invasion, they were not based in Baghdad, but in the far north of the country inside the Kurdish safe havens the United Nations had established in 1991, well beyond the control of Saddam's government.


イラクで反米闘争を続けるヨルダン人、アブムサブ・ザルカウィ氏は国連管轄下の北部でサダムからの影響は受けずにいた(?)ものの、イラク国内で活動していた。(そして2001年にはバグダッドの病院で入院もした。)

テロ国家とはアメリカではなく、フセイン政権時代のイラクのような国を指す言葉で、イラク武力行使はテロとの戦いの一環である。これはアメリカ人の常識。(一部のムーア狂信者を除く)。
