朝っぱらからネットサーフをしていたら、ケリーの当選を願うあるシニアシチズンの手紙を発見。ご紹介しよう。これは著者不明なので著作権は関係ないとおもうから原文を全文添付する。
I am a senior citizen. During the Clinton Administration I had an extremely good and well paying job. I took numerous vacations and had vacation homes.
私はシニアシチズン（６０〜６５歳以上の市民）です。クリントン政権のころはお給料の高いとてもいい仕事をしていました。休暇を何回もとり、別荘も数軒持っていました。
Since President Bush took office, I have watched my entire life change for the worse. I lost my job. I lost my two sons in that terrible Iraqi War. I lost my home. I lost my health insurance.
ブッシュ大統領になってからというもの、私の人生は一変して悪化しました。私は失業し、この恐ろしいイラク戦争で二人の息子をなくしました。家をなくし、健康保険も失いました。
As a matter of fact, I lost everything and became homeless. Adding insult to injury, when the authorities found me living like an animal, instead of helping me, they arrested me. I will do anything to insure President Bush's defeat in the next election.
実を言えば、私は何もかも失い宿無しになってしまったのです。泣きっ面に蜂で、当局の人たちが私を見つけたとき、私はまるで動物のような生活をしていました。しかもお役人は私を助けるどころか逮捕したのです。ブッシュ大統領を次の選挙で負かすためなら何でもします。
I will do anything that Senator Kerry wants to insure that a Democrat is back in the White House come next year. Bush has to go. I just thought you would like to know how one senior citizen views the Bush Administration. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
来年、民主党をホワイトハウスに戻すためにケリー氏が望むことなら何でもします。ブッシュは去らねばなりません。私はブッシュ政権に対して、一、シニア市民の見解を知っていただきたいとおもいました。私の手紙のために時間を割いていただきありがとうございました。
