対イラク武力行使

ハイサイオジサンの正面教師さんが、紹介してくれた日刊ベリタの「兵士不足の米軍が美容整形手術を特典に：米誌ニューヨーカー」の元記事と思えるニューヨーカーの記事を検索してみました。

"Soldiers in all four branches of the military and members of their immediate families can get face-lifts, nose jobs, breast enlargements, liposuction, or any other kind of elective cosmetic alteration, at taxpayer expense,"

長文ですが、Sで始まる２番目の記事です。"between 2000 and 2003 its doctors performed four hundred and ninety-six breast enlargements and a thousand three hundred and sixty-one liposuction surgeries on soldiers and their dependents. In the first three months of 2004, it performed sixty breast enhancements and two hundred and thirty-one liposuctions."という部分を読めば分かるように、この「特典」は以前(2000年)からあるもので、「米軍のイラク駐留が長引いている」事とは何の関連もない。米軍側は"The benefit of offering elective cosmetic surgery to soldiers is more for the surgeon than for the patient. If there's a happy soldier or sailor at the end of that operation, that's an added benefit, but that's not the reason we do it. We do it to maintain our skills."という風に、これは米軍医師の研修、技術維持の目的だと説明している。とにかく「兵士不足の米軍が美容整形手術を特典に」という内容ではない。

ちなみに「徴兵制復活のうわさ」はあると思う。がこれも「兵士の不足」が原因ではなくて、低所得の家族やマイノリティーだけでなく、金持の息子も戦争へ送るべきだというプロパガンダ的な話。

しかしこの日刊ベリタ。ハイサイオジサンが張ったリンクを開くと、「イラク抵抗勢力、各地で米占領軍を撃滅 　 現地ネット新聞が連日詳報」という記事が目にとびつく。ふーん、現地のネット新聞ってのは信用できるんだ・・・。「バッカじゃないの?」と言いたくなる。マイケルムーアが新聞をだしたら日刊ベリタのようになるだろう・・・。

ちなみに「ハイサイオジサン」とは正面教師さんの好きな沖縄の曲。「ハイサイ」とは「やぁ」とか「ハロー」みたいな意味です。
