‐Najaf Protests: Show of Sadrist Strength／

・The Sadrist Nahrain Net website leads with coverage of the massive demonstration in Najaf marking the fourth anniversary of the fall of Saddam¨s regime in response to an order by Shi¨ite cleric Muqtada Al-Sadr to demonstrate against the U.S. occupation and to redouble efforts to expel American forces from Iraq. Tens of thousands of Shi¨ites waving Iraqi flags poured upon Najaf and Kufa from Baghdad and other southern cities, while the website lambasted local Iraqi and Arab satellite channels Б including the state-run Al-Iraqiya TV and those of rival Shi¨ite groups, such as SCIRI Б for failing to cover the protests. Nahrain Net¨s correspondent reported that the 14 km main street between Najaf and Kufa was ＾colored with the colors of the Iraqi flag raised by millions of demonstrators,￣ adding that the demonstrators avoided carrying posters of Sadr or other Shi¨ite clerics and chanted only for Iraq and for the withdrawal of foreign troops from Iraq.
