【クウェートの劣化ウラン、国際原子力機関（IAEA）が「何ら脅威なし」との見解を示す（2003年6月13日）】

IAEAはこのほど、クウェートで調査を実施した結果として、「1991年の湾岸戦争で軍事使用された劣化ウラン（DU）によってクウェート国民に放射能の危険が及ぶことはない」との見解を示した。

IAEAは2002年2月、クウェート政府の要請に従って国際専門家チームを派遣し、11地点において、DUの残留物による長期間の放射能影響の可能性を調査した。

IAEA Investigation Finds DU No Threat

An IAEA investigation in Kuwait has found that depleted uranium (DU) from munitions used in the 1991 Gulf War does not pose a radiological hazard to the people of Kuwait. At the request of the Kuwait Government, in February 2002 the Agency sent a team of senior international experts to assess possible long-term radiological impacts of DU residues at 11 locations in Kuwait.
