According to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS, Montego Bay, 10 December 1982), conventions on the oceanic territories are suggested to be solved by official negotiations between governments.
By the definition of Japanese Government, the so called "Middle Line Border" suggestion can surely be a basis of the official negotiation between China and Japan. However, before achieving any mutual understanding, the "Middle Line Border" can only be regarded as an idea rather than a fact.
For the friendship between Chinese and Japanese people, I hope to see an official convection to be held by Chinese and Japanese government to settle the argument. Dear friends, shall we negotiate peacefully rather than using force to settle problems in this modern civilized world?
