The radical Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) criticized the European Union ( news - web sites) for its reported plans to put three groups, including one linked to President Yasser Arafat ( news - web sites)'s Fatah ( news - web sites) faction, on its list of terror organizations.

"We consider that European Union position as support to the state terrorism that the Israeli government is carrying out against our people," the PFLP said in a statement.

The decision to put the Fatah-linked al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the PFLP and the Palestine Liberation Front on a list of banned terror groups would add pressure on Arafat to overhaul his government and rein in militant groups.
