>Japan's Hidetoshi Nakata has
dismissed as groundless speculation
a report that he will retire from
international football after the World Cup finals.
The Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported
Nakata wanted to quit because the
fun had gone and he wanted to find
a "place where he can express himself".
>But Nakata said he had no idea
where the story had come from.
"There have always been speculative
articles and false articles around.
"I feel unfortunate to see an
article which damages the atmosphere
of the World Cup build-up involving everybody."
Currently at Parma, Nakata added
that he was too busy preparing for
Japan's next group match against
Russia on Sunday to think about the
new season, despite reports that
Arsenal are chasing him.
"I have not yet thought about next season," he said.
"The World Cup is all before me.
At the moment, I am only thinking
about the match against Russia."
