besides, it's not good to compare english to french. have you learned french from your middle scholl? NO!! right??? English is very special language in japan. It is absolutely necessary language in your life and curriculum in japanese schools. If you say that you are well educated normal japanse, it means you had studied english at least more than 6 years in your middle and high school.

Don't be afraid of speaking english!! it's easy and most popular language in the world including japan. Why did you learn how to speak english in your middle and high shcool? Just to complain someone's english? NO!! you studied english to speak in your normal or special situation!! don't be shy!!
