Mr Koichi Tanaka of Japan, Mr John Fenn of the United States and Mr Kurt Wuethrich of Switzerland helped create the new science of proteomics -- the study of how proteins, the stuff of life, interact with other substances in the cell, which is the likely basis for the next generation of super-drugs based on the human genome.

このような研究が人類の明るい希望となれば嬉しい限りです。なお、シンガポール政府は今後数人の日本人研究者をシンガポール大学に招聘することが決定しています。現在、京都大学ウィルス研究所の４人が国家プロジェクトである癌の研究をシンガポールで開始しています。
