KUALA LUMPUR - DPR Korea could face disciplinary charges after a furious row with the referee sparked crowd violence at a World Cup qualifier, an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) official said on Thursday
AFC General Secretary Peter Velappan condemned the trouble during DPR Korea's 2-0 defeat by Iran in Pyongyang on Wednesday and asked world governing body FIFA to take action.
"We need to maintain good discipline and I'm sure FIFA will take proper action," said Velappan.
"The (match) reports are with FIFA. There should be some sort of action taken because this is an extremely serious violation.
"Whatever FIFA decides we will respect their decision."
The violence escalated afterwards with the match officials and Iran's players unable to leave the pitch as rocks, bottles and chairs rained down.
Wednesday's rare outbreak of public disorder in communist North Korea has heightened concern in Japan, who travel to the reclusive state for a World Cup qualifier on June 8.

０６年ドイツＷ杯アジア最終予選Ｂ組の北朝鮮−イラン（平壌）で北朝鮮サポーターが暴動を起こした問題で、アジア・サッカー連盟（ＡＦＣ）は、中立国から選出されたマッチコミッショナーと審判インスペクター（責任者）による試合後の報告書を受取り精査し、国際サッカー連盟（ＦＩＦＡ）と協議した結果、ペナルティとして当面北朝鮮でのホームゲームを開催しないこととなった。
６月８日の最終予選第５戦については、日本の要望による第３国での開催を検討したが、中国・韓国とも中立国とは言いがたく、ほかに候補に上がった第３国も準備不足と不測の事態への対応が難しく異例ながら日本での開催をすることとなり北朝鮮サッカー協会も了承した。
会場は、北朝鮮の希望でジーコが一度も負けたことの無い埼玉スタジアムではなく、改修中の国立競技場を使用し、北朝鮮への追加ペナルティとして観客ゼロでの試合運びを検討中。
